A Change-Source Representation and Similarity Computation Method for Change-Source Evaluation, Deduplication, and Inheritance in Map Updating [Patent]
Published:
This invention proposes a method for computing the similarity between change sources that precisely describe changes in map information for HD map updating. Through a reasonable change-source specification design combined with the proposed change-source similarity computation method, the similarity-determination problems encountered in change-source evaluation, deduplication, and inheritance can be effectively solved. Map crowdsourcing makes it possible to efficiently discover and generate the locations in the currently used map that have freshness problems—that is, where the real environment has changed and differs from the currently used map. A compact representation for describing such map changes is proposed, namely the representation of map-update change sources. In practical applications, one faces the accuracy evaluation of the corresponding crowdsourced update change sources, the question of whether update change sources generated in different time periods are duplicates, and the inheritance problem between new and old change sources when the HD base map is replaced across versions. The change-source representation and the corresponding similarity computation method proposed by this invention can effectively solve the above problems encountered in practical applications.
